Cheerleading
Cheerleaders are often the envy of all the other girls at school. In recent years some guys have joined the squad as well. With equal rights being a big issue these days, that shouldn’t surprise anyone though. They are often the very popular and pretty girls out there leading the other students and the parents to cheer on the sports players.
Most people don’t stop to realize just how challenging cheerleading can be though. It definitely involves plenty of time spent to learn the various routines. Some of them may be done with pom poms and others just involve various movements with the arms and the legs. Cheerleaders have to move in unison so you have to know what your next move is going to be.
There are also the chants that go with the cheers to learn. Some cheers have been a tradition at a school for years. Others are new and so all of the versus have to be memorized. Still, you will find most cheerleaders really enjoy it. They have worked hard to secure their place on the squad. Cheerleading tryouts are very intense and so earning one of the few spots offered isn’t an easy task.
You may thing cheerleading is just another sport, but some places take it very seriously. About a decade ago one mother tried to get the mother of a cheerleader killed so that her own daughter could get on the squad. Another story in Texas involved a couple killing a cheerleader as the boyfriend had cheated with her. Both of these stories made National headlines.
Cheerleading isn’t something that is only done at sporting events. There are also cheerleading competitions that take place. There are plenty of elaborate cheers and stunts performed. The push for more difficult stunts though has lead to some serious deaths and even injuries during cheerleading practice. It is important to have safety mats and spotters in place to protect everyone.
One thing we all recognize about cheerleading is the cute little uniforms. They generally are two pieces with a top and a short skirt. The tops can be with or without sleeves. Sometimes sweaters or long pants are also worn in order to protect the cheerleaders from the extreme cold. The cheerleading uniforms of professional football teams definitely get plenty of attention from spectators as well. |

Opening an athletics field and maintenance required An athletics field is a field which caters for both track and field events. Track events are events where participants compete by running like the hundred meter dash. Field events are events where the participants compete through jumping or throwing like the discus throw and the javelin throw. The athletics pitch has sections for both track and field events.
The track surrounds the field pitch which is grassed. The track is subdivided into a standard eight lanes, marked by white chalk, for individual runners. The track covers the entire circumference of the oval athletics pitch. The lanes also curve with the curvature of the pitch while maintaining equal dimension for each lane. The field events take place in the grassed pitch. Many of the field events involve throwing and therefore usually take place at different times. The javelin throw requires a temporary runway about thirty five meters long. The discus throw and the hammer throw also require a temporary netted partition for the participant to rotate before throwing. When the throwing events take place, most of the entire pitch is occupied. The jumping events (high jump, long jump, pole vault) just require a temporary runway for the participant and a temporary landing area. The landing area is for the athlete not to get injured during the event. When you have catered for all the events within the space you have, there is maintenance involved. Firstly, the track chalk usually gets rubbed off as the athletes run, or due to rain, and has to constantly be marked. For more elaboration the lanes could be numbered. The common grass used in the pitch is the Bermuda grass that should be mowed constantly to maintain at about one inch. The grass should be watered regularly and fertilized with a standard six pounds of fertilizer a year. Lastly, the grass should be sprayed when there are no active sports to get rid of insects and the weeds plucked. |

Winter is the time of year when sports become extreme, fun, fast paced and high in energy. There is nothing like skiing and snowboarding to really get the blood pumping, to blow away the cobwebs of the winter and get you outside and properly warmed up. There are various winter sports on offer from the traditional skiing and snowboarding, to numerous others that range from the less well known to the positively archaic. It is only in the winter Olympics that we see the full range of winter sports that are truly on offer and recognise the various options available. Of all winter sports, skiing is the most popular and the one that most people know. Of course skiing holidays offer the fun inherent not just in the sport itself but in the après-ski, the range of activities that go on after the slopes have closed, from the partying to local cuisine that is worth the trip in itself it is so high in quality. Skiing also offers the spectacular views of the spot you are in. Just walking amongst the beautiful mountains of the Alps, the Austrian or the Swiss mountains would be enjoyable enough but the sport itself allows you to travel right to the top and then speed down the picturesque slopes. Combining fun with a chance to travel up to some of the world`s most beautiful sights, this is a sport that very few can deny, has endless appeal. Of course, for those who want a change, snowboarding offers a very similar experience and is suited more to some people`s tastes, it just depends how you wish to travel. There are however, a range of other winter sports on offer from sledding to ice skating and even curling. Ice skating is one of the main appeals of the winter Olympics and makes up several different events. The sport has long been popular as a winter pastime in towns that set up a rink as part of a winter fair. This sport again reflects the essence of winter but it is also, as with skiing, quite possible to get involved competitively or to get involved through ice hockey, which offers a much more violent and fast paced version of the sport. Sledding is also, in various different forms, part of the winter Olympics programme from the team to the individual events. The sport, that one might think of as a fun game for children on a snowy day in winter, is in fact one of the most fast paced and dangerous of the sports undertaken at the games. You can use a ping pong folding table to drill alone, improve your skill and finally beat most of the table tennis players. Of course, that is not that easy and you will need to devote at least 8 to 12 hours every week. We do suggest you practice 4 to 6 time a week. Fold the table with 45 to 60 degree inclining towards you. Alternate forward and reverse shot. The ball must go one side to the other making an X. After you find the right spot on the table to hit the ball, add speed to your movement. When you are an expert in that cross court forward and reverse, add one parralel shot and cross still alternate forward and reverse hand. It is important you pay attention to your legs position and about your left and right movement. Take a 4” wide tuck tape and put a stripe 3 inches over the net. Try to hit the tape consistently. Then reduce to 3-2-1 inch wide tape and move the tape closer to the net. These exercise are not that simple but will improve your game a lot. After you learn all these shot you cn add some spin to the ball. Even if you don’t have partner, almost every ping pong table can be folded in a way that you can practice these drills alone. If ever after that someone told you that table tennis is not a sport, you will know that is not true. An efficient ping pong training program will also improve your aerobics and burn a lot of calorie. It is a good fitness exercise for those who feel bored with fitness. Don’t forget to warm up before you start. |
