Potato Sack Race The "sack race" is a traditional summer race game that really please the oldest and youngest child.. Mark a start and a finish line Whistle or scarf to signal the start of the race. Allow the children to choose a partner. Provide each pair with a potato sack or double potato sack. Mark a starting line and a finish line and then line up all the pairs along the starting line. Explain to the children that their job is to get to the finish line first, keeping feet inside the potato sack. When everyone is ready, blow a whistle or signal with a scarf to begin the race. At the finish line, announce the winners.
